The Community for Creative Crowdfunding

The third pillar of The Crowdfunding Manifesto is The Rewards. The rewards are what you offer to your contributors in exchange for monetary support. The rewards create an exchange element that is vital for sustainable crowdfunding. Rewards can be divided into four broad levels: small ($5-$100), medium ($150-$500), large ($600-$1,000) and extra-large ($1,000+). Every reward should be special and should feel unique in some way. We'll take the next few weeks to go through each of the four levels in more detail.

The rewards that range between $5 and $100 are considered to be in the small level. Most supporters will contribute at this level. But that doesn't mean that all price points in this level are created equal.

The $5-reward should be the lowest price point - offering something digital or easily reproducible gives the Creative the biggest bang for the buck. The $10 to $15 price point is a good entry point for acquaintances and casual friends who wish to support your endeavor - offering something familiar such as an autographed CD or photograph represents a fair value proposition.

The $20-$25 price point is the most important for nearly all crowdfunding campaigns. This is the workforce of your rewards - it is by far the most popular choice for crowdfunding supporters. Make this reward very special by combining familiar merchandise (as seen in $10-$15 range) with a personal touch - e.g. a poem, a hand-written note, a postcard, etc. This is where many friends and fans choose to support your project.

The $30-$75 price range gives you the opportunity to play a little Jazz with your creativity. Here you can bundle merchandise along with personalized items. It's also a good spot to offer services and experiences - such as tickets to a show or lessons.

Finally, the $100 price point is the second most important for your crowdfunding campaign. This is where close friends, family members, and die-hard fans typically cluster. Make this reward level very enticing as only a few of these could make a big impact. Rewards that are "limited edition" or in some way scarce are typically offered for $100. Make this level both enticing an entertaining - it should make your supporters smile and have a difficult time refusing to support you at this generous level.
